Gum Diseases

Gum disease is an inflammatory disease usually caused by bacterial plaque that accumulates on the teeth. Healthy teeth with no decay or problems in the mouth can be lost as a result of gum diseases. For this reason, the preservation of gum and bone health as well as the preservation of general dental health is extremely important.

For gum diseases, tartar cleaning and optimum oral hygiene are the first steps of treatment. Depending on the degree of progression of the disease, the treatment can be supported by the use of antibiotics, followed by surgical treatments.

What is a healthy gum and how should it look?

Healthy gum is dull and firm and pale pink in color.  It terminates on the tooth surface like a knife’s edge and does not bleed during brushing.

If you think your own observations and the information given above do not match, it would be beneficial for you to visit a dental polyclinic as soon as possible in case of possible future problems.
